When I was a child, I played this game called, "He loves me; He loves me not." Some of you may remember it. But to those who do not this is how it was played. Pick a flower (daisy was preferred because it had a lot of petals, but any flower would do.) Pull off a petal and say, "He loves me." Pull off another petal and say, "He loves me not." Repeat this sequence until the last petal. The last petal would reveal whether he loved me or not. If the game did not yield the desired result (which was he loved me) then just play it again until it did! (LOL) Seems so silly now to even think that love could be determined in this manner, but I was a child and that is what I thought.
Thank God I now know that love is not determined by a game of chance. Love does not just happen. It is intentional. It is purposeful. It is sacrificial. It is revealed in its action. We do not have to guess where love is because love will ALWAYS show itself. The glorious part of love is it cannot be hidden, and it cannot remain a secret.
Here is the truth! The greatest love you will ever know is found in Christ Jesus. Think about this, even though God gave Jesus to the world because He loved it, Jesus was not fully received. He was shunned, lied on, falsely accused, plotted against, denied by the disciples, betrayed by one in His own circle, and even killed. But Jesus knowing the love that the Father had for people endured ALL this suffering just so we would know how far God would go to redeem those He loves. What is even more impressive God doing this without waiting for us to get in a better position with Him. He did not wait for us to get right to show His love toward us. No, He made the first move. His love led Him to do good towards us BEFORE we even knew we needed Him. His love led Him to action, a redeemable action at that. He put His love on the line for us by offering His Son in sacrificial death even though we were sinful. (Romans 5:8) How about that! Who loves like God? No one.
So, there you have it. No need to guess whether someone loves you. You are loved and loved by the BEST! Receive His love today! Why not shout it aloud with me, "He loves meeeeeee!" Despite any weakness, flaws, or shortcomings - He loves me! We can show our appreciation for His love by first accepting it and then living according to His word. Let His love grow inside of you. When you do, you will see a change in your vision, change in your hearing, and a change in your walk. Guess what, true love will transform.
Today is a good day to know real love. Oh, by the way, Jesus did not stay in that tomb! He got up and He lives today! God's LOVE LIVES today!
He loves meeeeeeeeeee!!!
What a Great Word!!!
It reminds me of a quote from an article I read a few years ago that say:
Loving God is more than a feeling. It is a unchanging assurance and knowledge that we are in love with a Being who loves us unconditionally, no matter who we are, or what we have done.
Thank you for th reminder of God’s Love!!!
