Prayer and Praise Penetrated a Prison!

It is true! Paul and Silas while on their way to the place of prayer one day in the region of Macedonia they encountered a young slave girl who predicted the future (She was a fortune teller). She made her masters a lot of money. She kept shouting that Paul and his companions were servants of the Most High God and they were telling the way to be saved. She kept this up for many days until Paul became utterly annoyed and commanded the spirit to come out of her, and the spirit left her at that moment.

Once her owners realized that their hope of making money was gone they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them to face the authorities. They accused them of creating an uproar in the city by advocating customs unlawful for Romans to accept or practice. Then the crowd joined in the attack of Paul and Silas. The magistrates ordered them beaten, thrown in prison, and commanded the jailer to watch them carefully. They were placed in the inner cell and their feet fastened in stocks. Paul and Silas were in an awful predicament. Instead of complaining or having a pity party they exercised their right to pray (even in that difficult situation).

The rest is history. An earthquake shook the jail and the doors flew open. Prayer provided them strength, assisted their worship, and showed their love and dependence on God. It kept them connected to their Power Source!

Remember, you have a right to pray! Exercise Your Right! It may get you out of some difficult situation!
